This allows us to run multiple courses and is easier for learners north of the Midlands to reach us.

What We Have Accomplished This Year

Well, what a year it has been! Despite all the crazy of the last few months we wanted to tell you about the great accomplishments we have made this year.


We are proud to have worked with 238 learners over nine Security and three Cleaning courses. Our courses get the candidates ‘work ready’. They are practical and are full of hands-on tasks to teach skills not only knowledge.

Security Course

  • Level 2 Certificate in Spectator and Public Safety in Crowded Places
  • Level 1 Occupational Studies for the Workplace
  • Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry

Cleaning Programme

  • Level 1 Certificate In Cleaning & Support Services skills
  • Level 1 Occupational Studies for the Workplace

We have also been able to offer our candidates a CSCS Green Card. This extra qualification opens up a wide range of support jobs on construction sites.

Our courses are designed around what employers need. The companies we partner with know we give them well trained staff.

Because of this we helped many of our learners back into work and we are proud of every single one of them. There is always a proud mummy moment when one of the learners comes to visit us in the office in their uniform. You can see some of them on our testimonials page.

Then in March, the world went crazy. Like everyone else we had to work hard to quickly reinvent our provision for #Lockdown. With lots of hard work by the team (and a few false starts) we were able to set up an online classroom offering Stewarding Training.

Since April, 64 candidates have completed the Level 2 Extended Certificate in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events online. As soon as we can safely get back into the classroom we will be progressing these learners to a full NVQ in Spectator Safety.

So what else have we got planned for next year? At this point it’s hard to say for sure what format our training will be in but you can be certain that we have big plans. Keep an eye out on of blog and social media for announcements and feel free to contact us to join our mailing list.

Could I be a Door Supervisor?

Go on, describe a door supervisor to me. I bet you’re thinking big bloke, scary looking, could flatten you with one punch…

Door supervisors might have a bad reputation based on stereotypes on TV and horror stories of that dodgy night out in the 1980s but in reality it’s nothing like that.

So what does a door supervisor actually do?

Door Supervisors are responsible for the safety and security of customers and other staff in their venue. They are there to ensure customers enjoy themselves, provide good customer service, enforce the venues policies and assist the venue to comply with their licensing objectives.

Depending on the venue you work at you work at you may be doing any of the following tasks your day-to-day duties may include:

  • managing crowds and queues
  • making sure people keep to the dress code
  • checking tickets
  • patrolling inside and outside the venue
  • watching people’s behaviour and dealing with conflict
  • restraining and escorting people out of the venue, if necessary
  • dealing with emergencies
  • co-operating with police, first aiders and management

Who can be a Door Supervisor? 

Yes, within the 500,000 people employed in the security industry in Britain there are some who match the physical description above but clearly the majority don’t. We have trained hundreds of people from a wide range of backgrounds, male and female aged 18 to 76!

 There are only five requirements to get a door supervisor license, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • pass an identity check
  • pass a criminal record check
  • have a recognised door supervisor qualification
  • be working at Level 1 in English

The key message to take away is that the job is about customer service.  You need to be a people person, professional, friendly, confident and good at communicating. 

What does the training involve? 

The Door Supervisor Course introduces you to working in the security industry. It runs over 4 days and covers the legal framework behind the job, the role, conflict management and physical intervention.  There are three multiple choice exams and a practical assessment.

Welcome to Eventcover Midlands

New Term … New Blog

Thanks for visiting us at Eventcover Education. We are a specialist training provider in the Security and Events Industries. Although we work nationally, our primary training centre is based at the NEC in Birmingham. This is an excellent location to give learners first hand experience of their new career.

We have exciting projects for the 2019/2020 academic year. Sector Based Work Academies and the first stage of our commonwealth games plan. It’s going to be a very busy year but we’re looking forward to the challenge.
